Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

This is one we’ve all been waiting for. Pirates of the Caribbean is returning this year with another sequel, the fifth in the popular film series, and with new directors: Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. There’s been a lot of hype around this movie, and it’s safe to say we can’t wait to see more of Jack Sparrow’s adventures.
The storyline in this much anticipated Pirates of the Caribbean centres around Jack Sparrow’s unfortunate run in with Captain Salazar’s ghost pirates, and a quest for the trident of Poseidon and ultimate control over the Seven Seas.

We’ve all heard of the 80s Baywatch show, the classic red swimsuits, the beautiful lifeguards, including Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff at their finest. But 2017 is bringing about an all new film version of Baywatch, with Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario as the new lifeguard stars.
This release is one we’re all curious to see, with the cast featuring some of our favourite stars, and the trailer promising a good amount of action, drama and comedy, it could be one that reintroduces the popularity of the Baywatch storyline.
Smurfs: The Lost Village

The Smurfs is another TV show turned movie that’s been brought back all singing and all dancing, again becoming a family favourite. 2017 will see the release of the third modern Smurfs movie, Smurfs: The Lost Village. Children and parents alike loved the first two movies, and are eagerly awaiting the next in the film series, but will it live up to expectations?
This next step in the Smurf journey, sees Smurfette more central to the plot line, as with the help of her friends and a mysterious map, she embarks on a journey to discover a secret about the history of Smurfs.
King Arthur: Legend of The Sword
Release Date: 19th May 2017
This is a good one for the history fanatics, or simply those that love tales of Arthurian legends. There have been many TV shows and films depicting the legend of King Arthur, but this new release has the backing of Warner Bros., and has a budget of $170 million – so we’re expecting great things.
Trailers promise a film that covers the difficult and poverty-ridden childhood of King Arthur, before he learns his true identity, and his true birth right to the throne. Don’t worry though, we’ll also get to see his iconic pulling of Excalibur from the stone, so rest assured this movie will tell a full and complete version of the legend.

The Alien films have been going for years, and for good reason. People love the Alien film series, this years Alien: Covenant being the sixth in a series of successful and popular films. We’re hoping 2017 will see another Alien film full of suspense and terror, and so far, the trailers have lived up to expectations.
Alien: Covenant will begin with what seems like a planet full of potential for colonisation, and a whole new world, but pretty quickly, as you can imagine if you’ve seen any of the previous Alien films, we realise that the planet might be darker than we first thought.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie gained more popularity than most of us expected, considering it was a film intended for family viewing. Most serious film watchers tend to stay away from such tame storylines and animated characters, but Guardians of the Galaxy seemed to be loved by all. Now we’ve got a sequel on the way, and fans are looking forward to what this new release might hold.
In this movie we’ll see Peter Quill and the Guardians fight off invaders, to protect their batteries. And don’t worry, director James Gunn has assured fans that the soundtrack for the Guardians sequel will just as catchy as the first movie’s soundtrack.

Any Stephen King fans, or just horror fans in general, will be pleased to hear that a film adaption of Stephen King’s It will soon hit the screens. And it aims to be just as terrifying, if not more so, than the book, and than the 1990 film.
The trailer has shown us snippets of missing children and a terrifying clown, so we’ve got high hopes for some serious scares. Those that don’t know the story are certainly in for a chilling viewing. With the recent clown scares around the world, this film couldn’t have come at a better time.
2017 seems like it might just be a year to remember in the film industry. There really is something for everyone, and we’ve only listed a few of the most anticipated movies of this year.
